The Environmental Impact of Organic and Conventional Farming

Many scientific studies have been carried out over the years comparing organic to conventional farming. Organic farms are more environmentally friendly, as the don’t use chemicals are pesticides these do not release these in to the landscape and damage the soli and any plants/animals that are exposed to these chemicals. If these chemicals get into small lakes they can kill everything in these lakes. Organic farms are also better at sustaining ecosystems like populations of animals and small insects and plants.

Organic farms also use less energy than conventional farms and produce less wastage of chemicals and packing materials. Many experts do believe however that an organic farm needs more land than a conventional farm and so causes more damager to the environment as more land needs to be cleared to make way for farm land.

The benefit of organic food of consumers has still yet to be proved, but many people believe organic food is healthier, the debate continues...
